Sugar gliders are small marsupials which come from Australia, and they can make wonderful pets. In the wild they live in small colonies. The most common colour is grey on top with a white belly, and a black stripe down the middle of their back. Other colours are very rare. They are called gliders because they have a gliding membrane than stretches from their back legs to their front legs, so when they stretch their legs out they can act like a kite and glide great distances (as long as a football pitch!)

Sugar gliders take a lot of care and dedication to own. They are not really suitable as a children's pet. They can live for 12-14 years, so you have to be sure that you will be able to care for the glider for the rest of its life before buying one. They are nocturnal, so you have to get used to staying up each night. Sugar gliders should not really be kept on their own, as they get lonely. If you have just one sugar glider, you will need to spend a LOT of time with it. 


My GF have named our pet as 'Aprilio' (April), cause we bought on the month of April :)

About Aprilio

We bought Aprilio on 13/04/2011,  he was 1 month old, on the 1st day i took him back home, and the 2 days later i suppose to deliver to my gf's house, seriously he was very cute and adorable, but i had tough time with him, actually what happen was on the 1st day, i only bought Fiji Apple to feed him, wanted to make it as his main course, but believe me, he didnt allow me to carry him at all, whenever i insert my hand inside his cage to carry him, he will make a terrible noise, so i got to wait for him to sleep, and i will leave the apple on his tray.

I been doing this for the 1st 2 days when he was with me, on the third (3rd) day, i took his cage and send it to my gf's house, and during the night, i called her to find out about Aprilio's condition, whether he have ate anything or not, believe me or not, he didn't make any sound when my gf carried him, and he was so happy with her, since that day i realized that this funny kid love girls, yeah sometimes my gf will leave him with me in case if she travelling anywhere, my GF stays at Parit Buntar,Penang and mosy of the time she will travel by bus, so its very hard to carry our boy by bus, he will surely make noise and disturb others, so during the time he with me, he will never allow me to touch him, he will come smell my hand and once he noticed that im a stranger not his owner, he will go back to his pouch and hide inside.

So i got to repeat the same routine which i did on the 1st day when he was with me, which is i got to wait for him to sleep, and then only i can place his protein and food inside his cage.
